Palestine Liberation Organization calls on Guterres to take practical steps to hold the occupation accountable

Occupied Al-Quds, (ST) – The Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) called on the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, to take practical steps to hold the Israeli occupation accountable for its crimes. He said that the UN reports have no value unless they are dealt with according to the legal requirement.

The PLO said in a statement on Wednesday that the recognition of the Secretary-General of the United Nations that the occupation forces committed crimes against the children of Palestine requires taking legal measures in accordance with international laws, customs and conventions. “These international laws require that the occupation authorities be held accountable in international courts, like war criminals,” the statement of the organization added.

“The reports issued by the Secretary-General of the United Nations have no meaning or value if they are not dealt with in accordance with the legal requirement to include “Israel” on the blacklist, prosecute its officials as war criminals, and work to end the occupation of the occupied Palestinian and Arab lands, the statement said.

Guterres had confirmed yesterday in his annual report on children and armed conflict for the year 2021 that, the occupation forces killed 78 Palestinian children and mutilated 982 others in the occupied Palestinian territories. He expressed his shock at the continued lack of accountability for these violations.
