Palestine condemns Washington’s use of “veto” against gaining full membership in the UN

Yesterday, the Palestinian presidency strongly condemned the use of the US “veto” in the UN Security Council to prevent the state of Palestine from gaining full membership in the UN.

According to WAFA News Agency, the Presidency stressed that the American “veto” defies the will of the international community, which strongly supports Palestine’s obtaining full membership in the United Nations, as the majority of the world’s countries have recognized the Palestinian state since 2012, when the General Assembly voted to accept Palestine’s membership as an observer.

The Palestinian presidency pointed out that this aggressive American policy towards Palestine represents a blatant aggression against international law and encourages the continuation of the war of genocide and war crimes waged by the Israeli occupation against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, including occupied Jerusalem, sponsored and supported by the United States, which has always used a “veto” against the Palestinian people and their legitimate rights.

The Presidency stressed that achieving security and stability in the region and the world depends on the implementation of international legitimacy resolutions, ending the Israeli occupation of the Palestinian territory and recognizing the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, foremost of which is their right to self-determination and the establishment of their independent state with Jerusalem as its capital.

The Palestinian presidency thanked the member states that voted in favor of the state of Palestine gaining full membership in the United Nations, pointing out that this vote is evidence of the world’s unity upon the values of right, justice and freedom represented by the Palestinian cause, and against the ongoing crimes of occupation against the Palestinian people and their land and sanctities.
