Pakistani aid ship arrives at the port of Lattakia

A Pakistani aid ship loaded with about 200 tons of relief and medical materials arrived today at the port of Lattakia. The Pakistani aid is intended for those affected by the earthquake that struck Syria on the sixth of last February.

Shahid Akhtar, the Pakistani ambassador to Damascus, said that the arrival of the second ship within ten days confirms the great interest paid by the State of Pakistan, which has always stood by Syria and its issues, especially now in this disastrous situation due to the devastating earthquake that struck Syria. The Pakistani ambassador expressed the great sympathy of the Pakistani people towards their brothers in Syria.

Akhter indicated that the ship carries, in addition to food and medical supplies, generators to schools, medical centers and those that need such equipment, pointing out that in the coming period, two ships loaded with hundreds of tons of relief aid will arrive, in conjunction with the arrival of food and humanitarian materials via Pakistan Airlines.

In turn, the chairman of Lattakia Provincial Council, Eng. Tayseer Habib, praised the positions of the Pakistani government, and its great role in providing support to those affected by the earthquake, by sending a rescue team that contributed to the process of recovering the victims, in addition to providing aid through Syrian airports, saying: The operations room in the province and the relief sub-committee will distribute aid for those affected, in addition to schools that need maintenance work as a result of the earthquake.

For his part, the Secretary of the branch of the Arab Socialist Baath Party in Lattakia, Eng. Haitham Ismail, expressed his thanks and appreciation for the position of the government and people of Pakistan, for this humanitarian stance and for what they have presented and are presenting since the occurrence of this disaster.
