Pakistan announces its desire to join BRICS
Speaker of the National Assembly of Pakistan Sardar Ayaz Sadiq announced his country’s desire to join BRICS within about a year or a year and a half.
Sadiq said in a statement: “We are very interested in this matter and hope to be able to join BRICS. We have not yet received an official invitation, as it is being prepared, but it is being discussed informally, and Russia supports us in this regard.”
The BRICS group mainly includes Russia, China, India, Brazil and South Africa. This year, Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, the Emirates and Saudi Arabia joined it, and there are currently more than 30 other countries that are showing interest in membership or cooperation with it.
