With a lot of precision , mastery and contemplation, 43 paintings varied between icon, figures and portraits by the artist Wadi’eDaher were displayed at an art exhibition where “Waraq Atiq” café in Lattakia hosted .
The artist told SANA correspondent that the story of art began at an early age when he was attracted by a painting of the heroic martyr Jules Jamal and tried to imitate it with a similar painting.
The artist Wadih Daher considered art as a process of self-challenge, and it can only succeed with an outpouring of rituals of joy and love, stressing that the painting is an integral part of the artist’s soul and personality and reflects the contents of his heart.
The artist Daher is unique in the technique of colored burning on wood, which requires accuracy and skill in the work, especially since burning on wood never accepts error.
The artist Daher was also distinguished by drawing the art of the icon, and he was unique in drawing the Byzantine one , which is distinguished by clear lines.
According to what Daher said, he painted the two icons of the Last Supper of Christ and the creation in the courtyard of St. Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican. The two icons are among the most difficult artworks due to the large number of details and extreme accuracy in them.
The artist, who held his first exhibition in 2011 , noted that his paintings are present in many countries of the world including Greece, Australia, Italy, America and all Syrian governorates, and he has about 170 paintings he keeps in his house.
The owner of “ Waraq Atiqe” café Lina Daher stressed that the café is a platform for spreading culture and arts, as it hosts art exhibitions constantly , in addition to the presence of a library that offers books for free for reading and a special section to display handicrafts, crochet, embroideries and accessories for women working with handicrafts.
She confirmed that the café is an opportunity for people with disabilities to integrate in society as all the employees are of them, in addition to display and market their products.
