Pablo Sapag to ST: US attacks on Syria and Iraq a message to “Israel” to keep on with its brutal aggression on Gaza
“Actually, the recent attacks carried out by the United States on Syria and Iraq have conveyed a message to the Zionist Israeli entity and to the more radical and hawkish elements of the US and the collective West establishment, Pablo Sapag, associate Professor at Complutense University of Madrid, and author of “Syria in Perspective” book, answered Syria Times question on the what messages the US aggression on Syria and Iraq carries.
To the former (Israeli entity), Sapag said, the message was straight: keep on with your brutal operation in Gaza because is suitable to the US and its allies interests and as you are failing and your public opinion is outraged because of that failure, we, the United States, will do our very best to create more havoc in the region so you get extra time in Gaza, the West Bank and the other locations in the region where the Western Zionist entity is operating militarily.
To the latter (the hawkish elements of the US and the collective West), the attacks on Syria and Iraq seems to calm their anxiety because of the increasing and inevitable irrelevance of the US in the region and beyond. It’s a way to tell the warmonger US and European politicians, military and business elites that the US still has a word in the region , Sapag added.
“Ultimately all this confirm to the peoples of Syria and Iraq what they already know crystal clear: that the US and the collective West act in a coordinated way with their creature, the Zionist entity, and thus they cannot be trustable at all in any sense,” Sapag pointed out.
Replying another question by Syria Times on the possibility of a wider war in the region, Sapag clarified that “reaching this point and after four months since all started with the Israeli attack in Deir Ezzor, the murderous terrorist attack in Homs Military Academy and the bloody events in Palestine, there can be no doubt that the intention was to create a regional war. However all those attempts have failed because the regional actors belonging to the axis of resistance have shown a clearer and sharper strategic view than that of the collective West and its Israeli spearhead in Bilad al Sham. None of those actors have fallen in the constant provocations, the last of which was the attack in Homs city center that took the lives of many civilians.”
According to Sapag, contention and time management are the key factors in this phase in the struggle of the region to get rid of the consequences of the plot that the French and the British launched more than one century ago against the ancient rich diversity of the people of Bilad al Sham. Every day that the genuine regional actors avoid falling in this provocative trap the collective West project is more exposed, even beyond the region.
He stressed that the US attacks on Syria and Iraq has led many, even in the collective West, to ask themselves what are the US troops doing in Iraq and Syria. Since the US, British and others illegal invasion of Iraq in 2003, the Iraqi authorities have repeatedly and formally demanded Washington to pull them out.
Regarding Syria, those troops, as the French and Turkish ones, are violating all international laws with their illegal presence in Syria. That is what has been exposed.
