In 2015, more than 615 cultural activities were held in Homs province which includes 27 cultural centers, according to the official news agency (SANA).
The agency clarified that 297 lectures and symposiums, 141 musical evenings, 11 art exhibitions, 44 workshops for children and 5 festivals were among the activities held there.
It added that 500 children took part in the children workshops, while 50 poets from Syria and the Arab world participated in festival held on the occasion of the Syrian Arab army’s foundation.
“There was also a theater festival in which 6 plays talking about social and national issues were performed,” SANA reported, indicating that 90 local and world films were screened in cooperation with the Homs Cinema club.
Director of Homs Culture Directorate Ma’en al-Ibrahim said that books exhibitions were activated last year in parallel with the previous activities.
He referred to the establishment of the Arab cultural center and popular cultural institute in al-Zahraa quarter. “The directorate is working on activating the Ballet school and the cultural center in al-Qusair area which had sustained terror attacks over the past years,” al-Ibrahim added.

In another development, SANA reported Sunday that the ‘Shajarati’ [My Tree] project will plant 50 trees inside the al-Baath University campus plus 1000 ones in the green landscapes burned last summer in Homs.
