Oun to Mogherini: Political Settlement Only Solution to Crisis in Syria

BEIRUT, (ST)- Lebanese President Michel Oun  has reaffirmed that political settlement in Syria is the only solution to the crisis in the country.

Oun made the remarks during his meeting  on Thursday in Beirut with the European Union Foreign Policy Chief Federica Mogherini.

“Lebanon sees that political and peaceful solution to the crisis in Syria is the right prelude to reaching a settlement that ends war and puts an end to the suffering of the displaced Syrians,” said Oun.

 He pointed out that Lebanon has launched a development process in all domains to cope with the stable security conditions the country has enjoyed since the work of the constitutional institutions was regulated.

On her part, Mogherini said that countries of the European Union have expressed firm readiness to keep supporting Lebanon in necessary fields.
