Orfali: Linking Investment with Creativity and Innovation

DAMASCUS, (ST) – The Minister of Economy and Foreign Trade, Dr. Kheder Orfali underlined that investments based on scientific grounds have a significant role in enhancing competitiveness and creating value for the economy and trade and that the government aspires to that through linking investment with creativity and innovation.

Dr. Orfali presided over a meeting on developing strategies and linking knowledge-based economy by investing. He said: “The meeting is gaining great importance because it embodies cooperation with the body of scientific research, which aims to link knowledge-based economy by investing.”

“We aspire to link invention, creativity and innovation to investment through scientific research, through close cooperation with the High Authority for Scientific Research, stressing that this cooperation will have fruitful results in the near future, especially that the country is in the start-up phase of reconstruction and to meet the aspirations of the Syrian people,” Dr. Orfali added.

The Director General of the Higher Scientific Research Dr. Ghassan Assi gave a presentation included a brief overview of the functions of the Supreme Commission of Scientific Research and an introduction to the national policy draft for science and technology, innovation and investment activities of the Commission on inventions, innovations and future steps.

It is noteworthy that this meeting is the second concerning strategies for linking knowledge-based economy by investing to enhance the utilization of these investments commercially and economically and raising the competitiveness of the national economy and the development of programs and steps to implement the recommendations of the regional conference on linking the invention with investment.

And participate in meetings by Representatives of the Ministries of Economy and Internal Trade and Higher Education, Industry, International Planning and Cooperation Commission, Syrian Investment Authority, Higher Commission for Scientific Research, Syrian Inventors Association, Exports Association, Federation of Syrian Chambers of Commerce and some other stakeholders.
