Orban: Europe needs a trade policy independent of the United States

On October 5th, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban emphasized that Europe needs strategic sovereignty and therefore needs a military and commercial policy independent of the United States.

Orban said in an interview with the Czech Parliamentary Papers website that “the United States has left chaos behind in Afghanistan, which will have negative repercussions on Europe.”

Orban said that the number of Afghani immigrants is now increasing on the southern border of Hungary.

Orban criticized the way the European Union deals with Russia and China and pointed out that instead of cooperating closely with them economically, it is obstructing this cooperation.

Orban said that “the Union intends to show strength in its weak places and in the area in which it is possible to create partnership closes its doors.”

Orban believed that the European elite in Brussels “has put an ideological cover on its eyes and therefore acts against Europe’s interests only because the United States considers China its biggest opponent.”

Orban stressed that Europe cannot allow itself not to use the enormous economic opportunities offered by cooperation with China.
