One gold, two silvers, and six bronze medals for Syria in the Arab Kyokushin Championship

The Syrian Kyokushinkai team won one gold, two silver, and six bronze medals in the  Arab Kyokushin  Championship, which concluded today in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

In the individual fight in the women’s category, our athlete Dima Al-Nouri won gold in the fight. Yamen Zarzour won a silver in the junior category while Muhammad Arafat won a bronze, and in the youth category, Firas Zarzour, Moayed Al-Khouli, and Yazan Zarzour won three bronzes. Abdul Mujib Khouli won the men’s bronze.
In the kata competitions, Dima Al-Nouri won the bronze medal in the women’s category, and Yamen Zarzour won the silver medal in the junior category.

Hazem Mardini, head of the game’s technical committee and the national team’s coach, said that the tournament witnessed a high organizational level, and the electronic draw program was adopted in the International Kuching Federation tournaments for the first time in Arab tournaments, adding that the competition in the tournament is strong and the technical level is very high with the participation of strong teams.

Mardini pointed out that the tournament included an arbitration session to learn about the most important amendments to the law of the game in the International and Arab Federations. Lectures were delivered by Antonio Pinheiro, chairman of the International Kuching Federation, and Paul Lorest, the arbitration official at the International Federation. Mardini further pointed out the excellence of the referees accompanying the delegation of our national martial arts team in Kyokushinkai, as they were chosen to arbitrate most of the final matches.

160 male and female players participated in the tournament, representing Syria, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Iraq, Kuwait, Jordan, Libya, Tunisia and Algeria.
