On the World Youth Day: a celebration entitled “development of Education” in Deir ez-Zor was held

On the occasion of the World Youth Day and within the sustainable development goals for 2030, Deir ez-Zor governorate, in cooperation with the population subcommittee, held a celebration entitled “Development of Education”, which included screening a documentary film and reviewing the results of the five-day workshop held by the government’s volunteer youth team.

Dr. Siham al-Khater, member of the Executive Bureau of Deir Ez-Zor Governorate, said this event included activities for young people, such as a documentary on the importance of education and its role in communities, as well as a workshop that included topics such as youth, strategic thinking, youth, education, rehabilitation and the labor market. Following these activities, a dialogue session was held with specialists and officials in the field of education. Present were: Rector of Euphrates University Dr. Ragheb al-Ali, Director of the Basic Education at the Ministry of Education Dr. Rami Al-Dally, Director of Education in Deir Ezzor Khalil Haj Obeid and Secretary of the Youth Branch Sumer Al-Zahir.

The Director of Education pointed out that education in Deir ez-Zor is developing and upgrading. After years of siege the educational institution has withstood, and in the current phase we are working to improve the quality of education in light of the significant increase in the number of students returning to their schools and the reconstruction of schools to accommodate and provide all the requirements necessary for the success of the educational process.

A number of participants highlighted the great benefit of participating in this event, through which they presented their ideas.

The volunteer Nour Sadek considered that young people are “the biggest supporters of reconstructing what was destroyed by terrorism in Deir ez-Zor”, underlining the necessity at this stage to focus on the technical and vocational education to support the process of reconstruction.

The volunteer Hitin Abdul Razzaq said that the rise of societies lies in the amount of the young people’s education and knowledge, noting that the Syrian young people have always proven their excellence, superiority and ability to overcome all difficulties.
