Minsk, (ST) – Deputy Minister of Industry Dr. Nidal Fallouh stressed that the most productive and service sectors of the economy in Syria is still working, despite all challenges and terrorist attacks on public and private industrial facilities.
During a speech he delivered in the International Industrial Forum held in the Belarusian capital of Minsk, Dr. Fallouh clarified that investment opportunities in Syria “are very large at this stage,” calling Belarusians investors to invest in various industrial, agricultural and tourist sectors through the rehabilitation of the companies and the establishment of joint ventures.
On the sidelines of the forum, the Syrian delegation met with Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus, Vladimir Semashko Iltch, who expressed satisfaction with the improvement of the situation in Syria and its ability to overcome the large detachments of the crisis and the readiness of his country to cooperate fully with all the areas of reconstruction and to provide necessary support and facilities.
The delegation also met with the Dean of the Faculty of Technical Sciences at the National University in Belarus Professor Hyori Virachana. The two sides discussed academic and educational cooperation between the two countries. Professor Virachaana stressed the Belarusian university’s readiness to cooperate with the Syrian universities and provide all scientific and academic support.
The delegation also met with Deputy Health Minister Valéry Igainjic Chwemczuk who assured full cooperation of his ministry with the Syrian side, both in terms of exporting medicines and establishing pharmaceutical industries in Syria or manufacturing supplying hospitals.
For his part, Dr. Fallouh noted the support given by the Republic of Belarus and standing to the side of the Syrian people and the great role of the Syrian Business Council of Belarus in promoting trade and economic relations between the two countries and open new prospects for future cooperation.
Earlier, the economic delegation met a number of directors of companies, institutions and industrial construction fields of industrial and commercial cooperation and to establish joint ventures in Syria as a first step to the establishment of an integrated plants and to contribute to the reconstruction process.
The delegation also met with the director general of the Atlanta company for electric household items Schumi to Ovictor, who expressed his company’s interest in cooperation with Syrian companies through the establishment of production lines of refrigerators, washing machines, according to the latest international technologies.
The delegation also discussed with the Board of Bill Company for producing water meters the possibility of setting up a factory to assemble water meters components of different sizes and discussed with the Director of Beleta Company for Pharmaceutical and Cosmetic to promote trade through the opening of the Belarusian markets for Syrian products and the opening of the Syrian markets for Belarusian products.
Dr. Fallouh noted the interest of the boards of Belarusian companies in the Syrian market and mutual cooperation between the two sides and promote cooperation of mutual interest and expressed the delegation’s desire to activate the Belarusian credit line for the supply of industrial products in the form of parts to be assembled in Syria as a first step to the establishment of new production lines.
