On the occasion of the International Day of Disability, a sports marathon held in Tartous

Tartous (ST): On the occasion of the International Day of Disability, the Special Olympics Foundation in Tartous, in cooperation with the branch of the Sports Federation and the Disability Sub-Council in the governorate, organized a sports marathon on the Sea Cornice for children with disabilities and a number of healthy children.

 

The marathon run was from Festival Square to the Medical Point Center on the Cornice, with a distance of 400 meters.

The supervisor of the initiatives of the Special Olympics in Tartous, Raghda Hussein, told news reporter that the event comes to introduce and express the rights of people with disabilities through the practice of various community activities, including sports, based on the importance of social integration for them and raising awareness of the rights of this segment, which no one can deny its existence. She pointed out that the participation of champions with disabilities who won medals in local and foreign championships gave the marathon a strong competitive character.
