On the occasion of the anniversary of the October War of Liberation : Floating Farah Star (2), the second Syrian ship manufactured with national expertise

Tartous (ST): On the occasion of the forty-ninth anniversary of the Tishreen War of Liberation the Farah Star (2) ship was launched from  the port of Banyas city in Tartous governorate, to be the second Syrian ship manufactured with national expertise.

Tartous Governor Abdel Halim Khalil Awad expressed, in a statement to reporters, his thanks to the industrialists who, during this period, followed the manufacturing process despite the difficulties and obstacles, especially that the ship put into service today was made by the hands and expertise of the people of Banyas, stressing the continuation of support for the national industry and the production process, and providing all what is needed according to the available possibilities.

Captain Khalil Bahlawan, owner of the ship, explained to news reporter that the ship’s manufacturing process took place in Banyas port, and the manufacturing process took ten months.The ship was launched after completing the technical and logistical operations of building it on land, pointing to the use of slides made by national hands and international specifications to float the ship, and lower it into the water. It will be equipped with all marine navigation devices after its flotation at sea.

Bahlawan indicated that the ship is dedicated to serving Syrian and foreign ships that visit Syrian ports from fresh water and diesel, and its cargo of fresh water is 300 tons, in addition to diesel tanks with a capacity of 80,000 liters, indicating its ability to carry 100 tons of iron on its surface, while its weight is ninety tons, 26 meters in length and 6 meters in width, it is equipped with a 420 horsepower engine and a winch, in addition to having diesel tanks that make it able to sail for a whole month without the need to refuel.
