On the anniversary of Evacuation Day… Celebrations in Argentina and Chile

On the occasion of the 78th anniversary of the evacuation of the French colonizer from Syria, the Syrian Embassy in the Argentine capital Buenos Aires held a celebration highlighting the meanings of this occasion.

The Syrian ambassador to Argentina, Dr. Sami Salameh, pointed out that this year’s Evacuation Day comes at a stage when Syria is beginning to recover from a terrorist war that began 13 years ago.

In a speech to the Syrian community in Argentina delivered by the president of the Federation of Arab Institutions in America “FIA-Arab” Dr. Ricardo Nasser stressed the support of the Syrian community for their homeland in the terrorist war imposed on it.

The ceremony was attended by diplomats from the Vatican, the Russian Federation, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Lebanon, Palestine, the United Arab Emirates, Algeria, Tunisia, Paraguay, Indonesia, Malaysia, Pakistan and Azerbaijan, in addition to the heads of Syrian institutions and clubs located in Argentina and a large number of members of the Syrian and Lebanese communities and members of the embassy.

In addition, the Syrian expatriate institutions in Chile, in cooperation with the Syrian Embassy and the Syrian Arab Republic School in Santiago, held a celebration marking this occasion at the United Syrian Club in the presence of a large number of ambassadors, members of the Arab and foreign diplomatic corps, politicians, government officials, a large crowd of members of the Syrian and Arab community, academic and official personalities.

The representative of the Director of the Middle East and North Africa Department at the Chilean Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Juan Bennu, said in a speech that Chile always seeks peace in the Middle East region, thanking the embassy and the Syrian community on this occasion, which confirms the will to life of Syrians.

For his part, the Syrian Embassy Charge d’Affaires Ghassan Anjerini spoke about the depth of Syrian heritage and history, the memory of the Evacuation Day and the national meanings held by the Syrian communities that transferred their victory and heritage to the host countries.
