On the 75th anniversary of the National Independence Day, a celebration held at Hmeimim base Speakers affirm the depth of Syrian-Russian relations and the continuation of confronting terrorism

Lattakia (ST): On the occasion of the seventy-fifth anniversary of the evacuation of the French colonialist forces from  Syria, and within the framework of the close friendship relations linking the Syrian and Russian armies, a central celebration was held today at the Russian military base in Hmeimim, with the participation of official and popular Russian activities. The celebration was attended by  General Ali Abdullah Ayoub, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Army and Armed Forces, Deputy Prime Minister and  Minister of Defense, Mansour Azzam, Minister of Presidency Affairs, Lattakia and Tartous Governors, secretaries of the party branches in the coastal region, and a number of senior officers of the General Command of the Army and Armed Forces.

General Ayoub delivered a speech in which he conveyed the greetings of the President Bashar Al-Assad, Commander-in-Chief of the Army and Armed Forces, and his wishes for all to succeed in performing the sacred tasks, thanking the leadership of the Russian forces in Hmeimim base for this generous gesture.

General Ayoub said that the Russian leadership’s keenness to mark the Syrian National Day at the Russian military base in Hmeimim confirms the depth and durability of our bilateral relations, stressing that together we celebrate the Syrian and Russian national occasions and together we continue to confront armed takfiri terrorism  with courage and work to eliminate it and prevent its spread because it threatens security and stability of all countries without exception.

The commander of the Russian forces operating in Syria delivered a speech on this occasion in which he congratulated the leadership, army and people of the Syrian Arab Republic and spoke about the sublime meanings and implications of national independence, stressing the right of peoples to struggle to liberate their land from occupation. 

He stressed the continuation of cooperation with the Syrian armed forces until the entire territory of the Syrian Arab Republic is cleared of terrorism.

The celebration included artistic  and singing performances by Russian artistic groups and outstanding Russian artists who came from Moscow to participate in the event. In the end, decorations and souvenirs were presented to the participants.
