On the 57th anniversary of the relations between the two countries, Cuba affirms its firm and supportive position toward Syria
Havana (ST): Cuba renewed its firm position in support of Syria and its strong condemnation of the terrorist war that was imposed on it more than ten years ago.
During the meeting of the Acting Director of the Department of Bilateral Relations at the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Angel Villa Hernandez, with the Chargé d’Affairs on behalf of the Syrian Embassy in Cuba, Ali Abbas, at the Ministry’s headquarters in Havana yesterday, on the occasion of the 57th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, Hernandez affirmed his country’s rejection of all unilateral coercive measures and measures that increase the difficulties of livelihood for the Syrian people stressing once again his country’s willingness to provide all possible assistance to the brothers in Syria.
Hernandez noted the long history of the distinguished relations between the two countries, which are built on the foundations of defending the values of equality and justice and working to consolidate international peace and security by adhering to the principles and rules of international law and the United Nations Charter.
Hernandez also expressed his country’s gratitude for the continuous support provided by Syria to Cuba in international forums and organizations, especially with regard to the draft resolution submitted annually to the United Nations General Assembly on the US embargo.
