On  Syrian Press Day, the Cabinet salutesl media, both public and private

Damascus, (ST) – The Presidency of the Council of Ministers saluted and showed its  appreciation for  the national media, both public and private sectors, and its employees, who reported the facts to the whole world about the crimes, terrorism, aggression and siege that Syria and its people are subjected to, whilst still   targeting the infrastructure of the Syrian state ,the basic needs of the citizen and his livelihood.Syrian media has  also offered sacrifices and martyrs , joining the men of our valiant armed forces in the battles of honor and heroism on all fronts along the homeland.

In a statement issued today, on the occasion of the Syrian Press Day, which happens on the fifteenth of August of each year, the cabinet expressed pride in the pen holders of a living conscience, honest word and the right stance, also the national media institution that adheres to its authenticity and true national affiliation.

The cabinet reaffirmed that access to information is a right for journalists, and it is imperative for public agencies to enable them to obtain it in order to inform the public about the work of state institutions and the difficulties they face, especially in light of the current circumstances, in order to highlight the defects and shortcomings wherever they are found, also making the way to finding and providing solutions that lead towards supreme national interest.

The statement stressed also that the national media is a true partner in building, rebuilding and advancing the current reality to a level that meets the national aspirations to build and create a renewed Syria.

The statement was concluded by paying tribute and appreciation to the martyrs of the national media who gave their lives in order to defend their principles and life message.
