On Syria’s Evacuation Day, the Syrians harvesting the fruit of their struggle through triumphing over terrorism
Today, the Syrians are commemorating the 75th anniversary of the evacuation of the French colonialism from their land, while facing a heinous aggression by the new colonialists who have been waging a fierce war on Syria through their terrorist tools and through an economic blockade that targets the Syrians’ livelihood.
The terrorists and their sponsors who are stealing Syria’s wealth are just like the French occupation’s soldiers who invaded Syria in 1920 and began immediately to plunder Syria’s resources and confiscate the Syrians’ properties and agricultural crops.
However, the Syrians managed in 1946 to expel the French occupation and liberate their country thanks to their steadfastness, national unity and national struggle countrywide led by the icons of the Syrian revolution which led to Syria’s independence, including Sultan Pasha Al-Atrash, Sheikh Saleh Al-Ali, Ibrahim Hanano, Hassan Al-Kharrat, Mohammad Al-Ayyash, Yousef Al-Azmeh and others.
The Syrians’ today’s battle against terrorism, which is a natural extension of the struggle of their ancestors that led to independence, has been culminated in clearing most of the Syrian territory from terrorism.
Member of the People’s Assembly Nidal Muhanna said in a statement to SANA that the enemy that is targeting Syria is the same enemy targeting other countries of the region, pointing out that this enemy is represented by the forces of colonialism and Zionism.
He stressed the importance of preserving the meanings of evacuation, including the national, popular and historical legacy they represent, so that the homeland remains safe, dignified and strong.
Retired Brigadier General and military expert Saeed Ahmad said that the Evacuation Day is the day of victory and independence that came as a result of the a great struggle and huge sacrifices of the Syrian freedom fighters in the face of the Ottoman and French colonialism.
Today the Syrian youths are bravely confronting foreign-backed global terrorism that has tried to re-occupy the country, tear it apart, remove it from the geopolitical map and undermine its role in the axis of resistance as a pillar in the battle to confront the Zionist colonial schemes, the military expert added.
