On Nakba Day: Resistance Legitimate Right to Liberate Palestine

DAMASCUS, (ST)- The National Leadership of the Baath Arab Socialist Party (BASP) has called for maintaining all forms of resistance to confront the Zionist enemy, stressing that resistance is a legitimate right to liberate occupied Palestine and win independence.

In a statement marking the 68th Nakba Day, the BASP national leadership called for making the Palestinian cause be an element to unify the Arabs’ potentials as to stand by the Palestinian people and support the right of the Palestinian refugees to return to their homeland and build their independent state on the land of Palestine with al-Quds as capital.

The leadership affirmed the need to  uncover Israel’s cooperation with some reactionary Arab regimes under the a western cover to uproot the Palestinians and displace them. It urged international legal commissions of the world to adopt necessary legal procedures that guarantee holding the Zionist leaders accountable and putting them to trial for the crimes they have been committing against the Palestinian people since 1948.

Unfortunately, the leadership pointed out, “the Palestinian cause is no longer the central cause of the Arabs”, because of the continuous crises and wars in the region and the spread of terrorism plague in several Arab countries, in addition to the escalation of the Zionist entity’s settlement activities in the occupied Palestinian territories, including al-Quds, and its Judaization attempts against al-Aqsa Mosque.

“The BASP, since its foundation, has undertaken the mission of confronting the colonialist conspiracy  against Palestine and warned against its danger on the entire Arab existence,” the leadership said, noting that the Palestinian cause has been the core of the BASP’s struggle.

On May 15, 1948, the Zionist gangs supported by the authorities of the then British occupation expelled and displaced more than  750,000 Palestinians from their villages and homes and turned them into refugees in neighboring countries after committing horrible crimes against the people of Palestine. Thousands of people were martyred and hundreds of Palestinian villages and cities were destroyed by the Zionist occupation and replaced with Israeli settlements.
