International al-Quds Day is an annual event that began in Iran in 1979, commemorated on the last Friday of the holy month of Ramadan, to express solidarity with the Palestinian people’s struggle and rejecting Zionism as well as Israel’s racist Judaization policy against the city of Jerusalem.
The objective of marking the occasion on the last Friday of Ramadan is to remind Muslims and the world of the Palestinian cause and benefit from this occasion to recruit energies in order to save Al-Quds and Palestine from the hands of the Zionists and to cast light on what Palestine and its people are suffering because of the aggressive Israeli measures which deprive the Palestinian under occupation of their basic human rights.
Millions of people in different Islamic countries held massive rallies in solidarity with the Palestinian people, condemning the aggressive policies of Israel and calling for the liberation of Palestine, the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital. They waved Palestinian flags and chanted “Death to Israel and America,” and burned Israeli and American flags.
This year’s occasion comes following a new round of US-brokered talks between Palestinian Authority and Israel. The two sides held talks in Washington earlier this week and are reportedly set to resume talks by mid August. However, many Palestinians believe the talks are doomed to failure because Israel and the US are putting pressure on Palestinian negotiators to unconditionally concede their legitimate rights, especially with regard to the repatriation right of the Palestinian refugees and the establishment of the independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital.
However, the Palestinian people will accept nothing short of their complete inalienable rights: Palestine from the sea to the river should return fully to its people, and no negotiator is entitled to give up or abandon one grain of sand from the soil of Palestine, or a drop of its water, oil, or a piece of its land.
Israel poses a danger to the peoples and countries of the region, and eliminating it is a national and pan-Arab interest. The people of the region are capable of removing the Zionist entity from the world scene through heroic resistance acts.
It has been crystal clear that Syria is paying the price of its support for Palestinian and Lebanese resistance. One of the main reasons behind the global conspiracy concocted against Syria was because of its unlimited support for resistance movements against Israel.
The relentless steadfastness of the Syrian people and their unwavering stances in facing the ferocious campaigns seeking to undermine Syria’s resistant role will continue unabated to foil the global conspiracy against Syria and the Arab nation.
The conspiracy against Syria won’t dissuade it from its support for resistance, because it is the sole way to liberate Palestine, al-Quds and all the occupied Arab territories, and the Syrian people’s support for the path of resistance is stronger than ever.
