On Christmas, Pope Francis Urges Syrian Parties to Put an End to Violence

VATICAN- Pope Francis of the Vatican has prayed for peace in Syria and the whole world and urged all Syrian parties to put an end to violence in their country.

Delivering his first Christmas message on Wednesday, Pope Francis  said the world should find inspiration in Jesus and stop all wars and violence.

The Argentine pontiff spoke at noon (11:00 GMT) from the central balcony of the Vatican Basilica to tens of thousands of pilgrims in Saint Peter’s Square and to millions of TV watchers around the world. He called for ending wars in which children, women and the elderly are the most vulnerable victims.
