Omani Foreign Minister: “Israeli” officials must be tried for their crimes against the Palestinians in Gaza
Muscat, (ST) – Omani Foreign Minister Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi called for an independent international investigation into the crimes of the Israeli occupation against the Palestinian people and the prosecution of its officials for deliberately targeting the civilian population in Gaza Strip, starving them, and destroying infrastructure.
In an interview with the Omani News Agency today, Al Busaidi said: The Sultanate of Oman is committed to the rule of international law and the necessity of the international community’s intervention to stop the war on Gaza and deter “Israel” for violating international law and killing children and defenseless civilians. He stressed that the media has a responsibility to deal with the situation objectively, credibility and communicate a just voice for the world and an address to the human conscience everywhere.
The Omani Minister stressed that the Palestinian people have the right to defend themselves. He pointed out that the forced displacement of civilians in the northern Gaza Strip and forcing them to move south under a siege that prevents them from obtaining water, electricity, food and fuel are measures prohibited under Article 33 of the Geneva Convention, and are considered war crimes.
Al-Busaidi stressed the need for the international community to intervene to stop the war on Gaza and deter “Israel” from violating international law. He called for an immediate ceasefire and establishing a truce monitored by the United Nations while developing urgent plans to provide the required aid and humanitarian needs directly and immediately.
Al-Busaidi called on the international community to take strong, deterrent and punitive measures in the face of the brutal statements and threats issued by Israeli officials who give the Palestinian people a choice between enslavement, immigration, or death.
