Oman FM calls for supporting peace efforts in Syria

NEW YORK,(ST)_Oman’s Foreign Minister has affirmed his country’s firm stance condemning terrorism in Syria, indicating that terrorism poses threat to international and regional security.

Addressing the 70th UN General Assembly today, Yousif Bin Ali called for supporting the efforts of the UN Envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura and restoring stability and peace to Syria.

He, in addition, denounced targeting diplomatic headquarters in Yemen’s Capital, calling on all parties to respect international rules.

The Omani FM voiced concern over the continuity of violence in Yemen, saying that violence helps terrorist organizations to set up basis for them.

He underlined the importance of making the Middle east region free of nuclear weapons and weapons of mass destruction.
