Oil Minister: Some SP 112 Billion Support of Petroleum Products

DAMASCUS, (ST) – Minister of Oil and Mineral Resources, Eng. Suleiman al -Abbas said that the government had provided more than 112 billion Syrian Pound  in support of petroleum products during the first half of this year to meet the needs of the local market of these derivatives.

During a meeting to follow the implementation of productivity and investment plans of the bodies  affiliated to the ministry, Eng. al –Abbas clarified that the total sales of fuel for the first half of this year amounted to 133.031 billion pounds while the value of total purchases amounted to 245.162 billion pounds, including 97 billion pounds as foreign purchases.

The Minister pointed to the importance of accelerating the implementation of the rehabilitation plans of fields and damaged installations as a result of repeated terrorist attacks, which target the national economy through the destruction of infrastructure, explaining the need to prepare accurate lists that  include the needs of the ministry and its companies.

Eng. al –Abbas pointed out the importance of working on the development of the future vision of the oil and gas industry and mineral resources,  rationalization of expenditure, the reduction of waste and activation of internal control, stressing the need to work to ensure the continued supply of the domestic market with oil derivatives as diesel, petrol and gas.

The participants discussed plans for rehabilitation of facilities damaged affiliated to the General Establishment of Oil (GEO), the works carried out during the first half of the current year, whereas the total produced oil in Syria during this period 7.129.496. million barrels a rate of production of 39.389 thousand barrels per day and the total produced raw gas amounted to 3.032 billion cubic meters, 61.750 million cubic meters  per day.

The General Establishment of Geology (GEG) and Mineral Resources produced 67 208 tons of marble raw, 41 202 tons of crude plaster, 187 501 tons of volcanic tuff, while the total value of sales of the GEG of construction materials amounted to 226 million pounds.

The General Establishment of Phosphate and Mines (GEPM) produced during the first half of the current year 604 737 tons of phosphate in addition to 704 213 cubic meters of rubble, and the company’s sales amounted to 646 275 tons of phosphate worth at 4.664 billion Syrian pounds.

The volume of raw materials refined in refineries of Homs and Banias affiliated to General Establishment for Refining amounted to 2.689 million tons as well as 69386 tons of natural gas in addition to the production of 669.2 million metric tons of derivatives and mineral oils  amounted to 9492 metric tons and sales value reached157, 448 billion Syrian Pounds.
