Oil Cooperation with Russia Discussed

 Damascus, (ST) – The Ministry of Oil and Mineral Resources signed here with the Russian “Ross” Company a road map provides for cooperation in several joint projects related to the Ministry’s work.

 The map was signed by the Minister of Oil and Mineral Resources Ali Ghanem and the Director General of the “Ross”Company, Roman Banov at the ministry building. The map provides for creating a specialized scientific center in the studies of hydrocarbons, geophysical and geological studies and information bank and conduct the two-dimensional seismic survey of the area north of Damascus.

  The map also called for the establishment of a joint company for the survey of seismic and the start of the three-dimensional seismic survey of Syrian territorial waters and rehabilitation and training of Syrian cadres through the identification of training programs.

 The plan included the establishment of a joint company in the field of geology and mineral resources to provide all the previous geological studies and information in Syria and study investment in basalt industry and rehabilitation of the salt mine in Deir al-Zour through the formation of follow-up committees to implement all agreed projects and within the specified schedules.

 The signing of the map was the result of the tenth session of the Syrian-Russian Joint Committee for Economic, Commercial and Scientific Cooperation held in the Russian city of Sochi on October 10.
