October Liberation War is a turning point in the history of the Arab-Zionist conflict

The October War of Liberation has embodied an important epic in the history of the Arab-Israeli conflict as it  restored the confidence of the Arab fighter in himself and his army and enhanced  his will and the ability to achieve victory.

The heroic men of the Syrian Arab Army, who had the honor of participating in this national heroic epic 49 years ago, expressed their feelings of pride which are deeply embedded in their conscience.

The battle to liberate the Jabal al-Sheikh Observatory and the scenes of the fall and crash of the Zionist enemy’s planes in the skies of the homeland, were reviewed by retired Major General Reda Shariqi, head of the War Veterans’ Association in Lattakia who told SANA “I had the honor of participating in the joint Syrian-Egyptian air raids that flattened and destroyed the Israeli forts.”

He stressed “ The October war constituted a cornerstone in the history of Syria and the Arab nation, and restored to the Arab fighter his position by taking the initiative, and laid the foundations for the time of subsequent victories against the Zionist entity”.

Shariqi  believed that the battles to defend the homeland and its sacred soil are still ongoing, and have not stopped since the October war, indicating that  for years, Syria has fought wars to defend its soil and national independence and the sovereignty and independence of brotherly Lebanon, to reach the war it is waging today against terrorism, which will be crowned with victory because we are the rightful owners. .

Retired Brigadier General Yahya Zakaria recalled those days full of strength and will, saying: “ the October war smashed the myth of the enemy army, which described itself as invincible, liberated the Arab will, changed the equation of the Arab-Israeli conflict, liberated Quneitra, and the founding leader Hafez al-Assad raised the flag of the nation over its pure soil.”

In turn, retired Brigadier General Hafez Barakat pointed out that the Tishreen Liberation War was “the first Arab war that achieved impressive successes and managed   to destroy the Alon line in the Golan and the Bar Lev fortified line in the Sinai, and to cross the Suez Canal and used airdrops extensively on Jabal al-Sheikh”.
