Occupation Prevents People of Occupied Syrian Golan from Visiting Their Imprisoned Sons

QUNEITRA, (ST)- The Israeli occupation authorities on Sunday prevented people of the occupied Syrian Golan from visiting their sons and relatives imprisoned and detained in the Israeli jails.

The Israeli occupation behavior is a further proof that the occupation keeps violating the rights of the people in the occupied Syrian Golan.

A letter by liberated prisoner Nihal al-Maqt, sister of the Dean of Syrian prisoners in the Israeli jails Sidqi al-Maqt, said “the Israeli authorities, via the International Committee of the Red  Cross (ICRC), informed the families of the prisoners about the occupation’s oppressive and unjust decision that reduced the number of visits to once a month, and cancelled today’s visit.”

The letter talked about the “collusion of the ICRC with the administration of the Zionist occupation jails through not informing the families of the prisoners about the Israeli decision until an hour before the date of the visit. This behavior comes within the framework of the collective punishment and revenge policy against the people of occupied Syrian Golan for their national stances and loyalty to their homeland.”

According to the letter, the occupation authorities has prevented the family of Syrian prisoner and freedom fighter Sidqi al-Maqt from visiting him this month.

In August, 2012, the Israeli occupation authorities released al-Maqt after 27 years of imprisonment. Al-Maqt was rearrested on February 25th , 2015 after Israeli forces broke into his house and ransacked its contents and took his cell phone and lab top in a flagrant violation of Geneva Fourth Convention on protecting civilians under occupation.
