Israeli occupation intensifies settlement and Judaization plans in Jerusalem and Hebron

Occupied Jerusalem (ST): The Israeli occupation authorities have been intensifying settlement activities in occupied Jerusalem and Hebron with the aim of Judaizing them, wiping out the genuine Palestinian Arab identity and implementing the colonialist annexation plans supported by the US as the international community continues to keep silent concerning the necessity of implementing the UN resolutions that affirm the illegitimacy of settlement and demand its halt.

Director of the International Jerusalem Center Hasan Khater said that Al-Khalil Gate, which is one of the oldest gates of the old town in occupied Jerusalem and the western entrance to Jerusalem Citadel, is being subjected to a fierce Judaization campaign as the occupation authorities are working to change its features with the aim of forging the history, geography and civilization of Jerusalem and obliterate its Christian and Arab Islamic symbols.

He added that the occupation authorities have been accelerating its plans to Judaize the old town since 2010.

In turn, the Coordinator of the People’s Committee for Resisting Settlement and the Racist Segregation Wall Salah al-Khawaja said that the Judaization plan aims to forge the civilization and history of Jerusalem.

He added that the Judaization plans that target the old town in Hebron are not less dangerous than those targeting the old town in occupied Jerusalem . The occupation authorities have recently announced a plan to construct scores of settlement units in al-Hisba historical market and the vicinity of al-Ibrahimi Mosque.

Secretary of the Palestinian National Initiative Mustafa al-Barghouthi stressed that the settlement and Judaization plans in the cities of Jerusalem and Hebron constitute a repetition of the 1948 catastrophe with the international community keeping silent towards the crimes being committed by the occupation against the Palestinian people.
