Notable turnout of visitors to the Syrian publishing houses participating in Cairo International Book Fair
The 53rd Cairo International Book Fair has witnessed notable turnout of visitors to the participating Syrian publishing houses.
Haitham Al-Hafez, Head of the Syrian Publishers Union, said in a statement to SANA correspondent in Cairo that the Egyptian and other Arab readers visiting the fair greatly admired the Syrian books which proved a strong presence in this major cultural event.
He added that the Syrian participation occupies an area of 80,000 square meters and is represented by 70 publishing houses exhibiting political, social, religious and economic books in addition to interesting children books.
“The success achieved by the Syrian publishers is the fruit of the steadfastness and sacrifices of the Syrian people in the confrontation of the conspiracies hatched against their county,” Al-Hafez pointed out.
He indicated that within the coming two months the Syrian and Egyptian Publishers’ Unions will sign a cooperation agreement to enhance the publication of Arab books.
Cairo International Book Fair was opened on January 26th and will last until February 7th with the participation of 1063 Arab and foreign publishing houses.
