Non-Aligned Movement Countries call on Israel to withdraw from entire occupied Syrian Golan

The countries of the Non-Aligned Movement renewed their firm position on the occupied Syrian Golan, calling on Israel to implement Security Council Resolution 497 of 1981 and the necessity of a complete withdrawal from the occupied Syrian Golan to the June 4, 1967 line, in accordance with Security Council Resolutions 242 and 338.

During its ministerial meeting on Wednesday, with the participation of Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Dr. Faisal Al-Miqdad, on the sidelines of the 77th  session of the General Assembly, the movement adopted a political declaration that reflected the movement’s positions on various issues on the international scene. The declaration emphasized  the Movement’s  principled position and firm commitment to combating terrorism in all its forms and manifestations, and the need to establish a just and equitable world order far away from the negative impact of the global financial and economic crises.

During his speech, Al-Miqdad affirmed Syria’s right to recover the entire occupied Syrian Golan up to the June 4, 1967 line in accordance with relevant United Nations resolutions. He confirmed  once again Syria’s firm and principled position in support of the Palestinian cause and the right of the Palestinian people to self-determination and the establishment of their independent state with Jerusalem as its capital.

Al-Miqdad stressed Syria’s adherence to the principles of the Non-Aligned Movement to face the great challenges that afflict the world, the most important of which is the spread of terrorism regionally and internationally, pointing to the need for effective cooperation to confront this dangerous threat.

Al-Miqdad condemned the support of Western countries for terrorism and their imposition of illegal coercive measures on Syria and some countries of the Non-Aligned Movement, stressing the need to end any illegal foreign military presence on Syrian territory.
