As part of the activities of the Syrian Plastic Art Days, the National Museum in Lattakia province hosted the works of 52 artists in a collective exhibition which was organized by Lattakia Culture Directorate.
The three-day event held under the title “ NojoomWatan 2” ( the homeland’s Stars) showcased more than 70 artworks including paintings and sculptures that varied in topics, styles, techniques and materials, to reflect different generations and artistic schools.
“ The exhibition provided an important opportunity for a large group of young and prominent artists to take part in a collective exhibition to present their works to the public” Director of Culture in LattakiaMajdSarem said in a statement to the Syriatimes e-newspaper .
He stressed that the constant concern is to involve young people and talented people in artistic forums under the supervision of experienced artists, to benefit as much as possible from their experiences, and to provide the opportunity for these young people to show their creativity.
The supervisor of the exhibition, the plastic artist, NidalTawil called for holding constantly such artistic initiatives because art creates modernity in societies and perpetuates civilizations.
Sculptor MahaYazji indicated that the exhibition’s objective is to present the works of young artists to the public, and to encourage other artists to adopt individual or collective initiatives , noting the importance of the Ministry of Culture’s celebration of Syrian plastic art days in all governorates and cultural centers with the aim of highlighting the importance of art in the lives of Syrians.
“This is my second participation in“NojoomWatan 2” exhibition at the National Museum, which is a wonderful place to display art with a group of wonderful artists” Yazji said.
The artist’s participation came through two wooden sculptures . The first one is a hand-carved one with chisels and hammers from hard lemon wood . It embodied the face of a woman who feels safe and reassured by an unknown person.
The second sculpture, which is made of French Zenzachte wood, is a face of an old man who feels his strength and steadfastness, and this was represented by a bird of prey above his head, which gives him courage and confidence.
In her turn, the plastic artist Rania Rehawi told Syriatimes“The exhibition is a rich and distinctive experience in terms of the number of works of various art schools in addition to the participation of young and prominent artists to exchange artistic experiences.
The artist Rihawi’s painting in the exhibition expressed the beautiful and transparent details of the woman’s romantic inner world with its broad horizons, with colors in harmony with the subject.
“ My sculpture in the exhibition is a landscape expressing my own artistic vision with soil and brown colors and I was keen for it to be out of the box “ Rehawi concluded.
