Nicaragua Submits a Request to ICJ to Prosecute Israel

Nicaragua has announced that it has submitted an application to the International Court of Justice to participate in South Africa’s lawsuit against Israel for its involvement in committing genocide against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip.

“Nicaragua has applied to the International Court of Justice for inclusion in the genocide case filed by South Africa against Israel on the basis of violation of the UN Convention on genocide in the Gaza Strip,” the Russia Today website quoted the government as saying in a statement.

The statement added: “Nicaragua sees Israel’s actions as a clear violation of the rules of the convention on the prevention of genocide, and wants to interfere in the course of the entire issue as a state, and to be a party to all possible legal consequences that may arise,” calling for an immediate cessation of Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip.

On the twenty-ninth of last December, South Africa filed an 84-page lawsuit presenting evidence of Israel’s violation of its obligations under the UN Charter, and its involvement in committing genocide against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip.
