Nicaragua denounces German arms exports to “Israel”

The Hague, (ST) – Nicaragua asked the International Court of Justice on Monday to order Berlin to halt military arms exports to Israel and reverse its decision to stop funding U.N. Palestinian refugee agency UNRWA, stressing that “Israel “is committing genocide crimes against the Palestinian people.

Nicaraguan lawyer Daniel Mueller said before the court today, according to AP: It is an unfortunate justification for Palestinian children, women and men by providing humanitarian aid, including by dropping it from the air, on the one hand, and supplying the Israeli army with military equipment used to kill and eliminate them on the other hand.

In turn, Reuters reported that Nicaragua today intends to ask the International Court of Justice to issue orders to Berlin to stop arms exports to “Israel” and to cancel Germany’s decision to stop funding the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA).

Germany is considered one of the main arms exporters to the occupying entity.

According to data from the German Ministry of Economy, it received military equipment and weapons worth $353.70 million in 2023.

In the first month of this year, the International Court of Justice began its first session to prosecute the Israeli occupation entity for committing genocide crimes in Gaza Strip, based on a lawsuit filed by the State of South Africa and supported by dozens of countries.
