Netanyahu’s Deep Fright of Iran Revealed in Congressional Address: Larijani

TEHRAN – Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani blasted Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s statement against Tehran, and described the US Congresspersons as Israel’s employees, according to FNA

Netanyahu’s statement was a “political show” which indicated that the US “Congress has been hired” by the fake Zionist regime, Larijani said, addressing Iranian legislators in an open session of the parliament on Wednesday.

He said that the Israeli prime minister only chanted his “worn-out slogans for an hour” which surprisingly received US congressmen’s applause.

“All the argument presented by Netanyahu consisted this point that Iran which is bearing the brunt of sanctions in the current conditions is an influential country in the Middle-East, some countries are under Iran’s influence and if any nuclear agreement is made, Iran’s economic power will also increase and its influence will grow throughout the Middle-East,” Larijani said.

“These words show the regime’s inability and concern and it should be concerned since the regime’s power has decreased on a daily basis during the past three decades,” he added.

Larijani underlined that the main concern of the Zionist regime is the influence and spread of the Islamic Revolution’s thought in the region.

“Netanyahu was attempting to instill this fright in the US Congress that if any (nuclear) agreement is made, Iran will be able to attain nuclear weapon with the current number of centrifuges and this will be dangerous to their fake regime and the region,” he said, and added, “It is rediculous that such concerns are raised by a regime which has had over 200 nuclear warheads for years.”

Larijani also referred to another “ridiculous” part of Netanyahu’s remarks in which he described Iran as supporter of terrorism, and said such words are uttered by the leader of a regime which itself is infamous for assassination of many Palestinian leaders and civilians and Iranian nuclear scientists.

The Iranian top lawmaker pointed to the “contradiction” seen in Netanyahu’s statement, and said he introduced Iran as a powerful regional country that has threatened Israel’s existence and then showed a bullying approach as if he led a powerful and unconcerned state since he cautioned that if the Group 5+1 reaches a final agreement with Iran, the Israeli regime will not recognize it and will be ready to attack Iran alone.

He downplayed Netanyahu’s warmongering, and said, “If Israel is powerful to this extent that it can attack Iran despite an international (nuclear) agreement with Iran, then why the regime’s prime minister has gone to the Congress so nervously and is concerned about Iran’s power.”

Netanyahu’s controversial speech started on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. (local time). He was invited by US House of Representatives Speaker John Boehner hours after President Barack Obama threatened to veto any sanctions legislation against Iran during his State of the Union address on January 20.

More than 50 House Democrats boycotted the event. The Obama administration is both angry at Netanyahu’s accepting the Republican invitation to address Congress two weeks before the Israeli election without consulting the White House and excessive Israel Lobby interference in American foreign policy.

Iran and the G5+1 are negotiating to narrow their differences over Tehran’s nuclear energy program ahead of a July 1 deadline.

Shortly after the Israeli prime minister spoke against the ongoing Iran’s nuclear talks, Obama told reporters that Netanyahu “did not offer any viable alternative”.

The US president said there was ‘nothing new’ in Netanyahu’s speech.
