DAMASCUS, (ST)- German MP Christian Blex, Head of the German parliamentary delegation, which was on a five-day visit to Syria, stressed on Friday the need to open dialogue channels between Syria and Germany to reach joint understanding.
In a statement to reporters at the conclusion of the delegation’s visit to Syria, Blex urged the German and European politicians to visit Syria and see what is really going on in the country and not to depend only on media outlets reports.
He said the visit was an opportunity for members of the delegation to get information about all the issues that they were concerned about regarding events in Syria.
He added the delegation was briefed on the situation of Syria’s hospitals during their visits to two hospitals including the Aleppo University Hospital.
He pointed out that the delegation also had the opportunity to meet 16 men of religion representing all spectra of the Syrian society.
Replying a question by SANA on efforts to lift the unjust sanctions imposed by the west on the Syrian people, Blex clarified “first step must be conveying the real image about Syria to the German people and later other steps could be taken in this regard (sanctions).”
Blex described the hospitality the delegation received in Syria as “beyond expectations”.
