Nebenzya: Washington is responsible for every crime committed in Gaza Strip

UNITED NATIONS, The United States is blocking any peacekeeping efforts in Gaza Strip, not letting the United Nations Security Council take necessary measures, Russian Permanent Representative to the United Nations Vasily Nebenzya said.

Vasily Nebenzya said during a special emergency session of the UN General Assembly late Tuesday on defending the Palestinian people, that Russia hopes that the United Nations Security Council will follow the UN General Assembly’s lead and demand an immediate ceasefire in Gaza Strip “We hope that after the General Assembly, the UN Security Council will finally fulfil its obligations.

“We are actually witnessing the implementation of a plan to bomb Gaza Strip into a Stone Age,” he said. “I regret to say that over this time the United Nations’ collective efforts have brought about no desired result. But the reason is not in the failure of multilateral diplomacy or in the Security Council’s inability to do its job, as some are saying.”

He added: “There is a terrible humanitarian catastrophe in the Gaza Strip, and it is getting worse every day, although it is impossible to imagine what could be worse than it is now, we need a ceasefire, and we need to stop this massacre.”

The Israeli occupation’s crimes in Gaza Strip since last October until now have caused the martyrdom of more than 18,000 Palestinians; most of them are children and women, and the injury of more than 50,000 others, in addition to severe damage to all facilities of public life.
