Russia intends to submit materials to the UN Security Council to conduct an investigation into military biological activities in Ukraine as part of international agreements, Russia’s Permanent Representative to the UN Vasily Nebenzya said on Friday at a UNSC meeting that Russia called to discuss US biolaboratories in Ukraine.
“We have already built up a significant amount of material directly pointing to a violation by the US of the Biological and Toxin Weapons Convention, he said. “We continue to collect and analyze these materials.”
“Given that the US refuses any constructive discussion on this topic, we plan to use the mechanisms provided for in Articles 5 and 6 of the BTWC (they provide for the possibility of submitting evidence to the UNSC to initiate an investigation – TASS),” the envoy said.
“As soon as the collection of materials is completed, we will submit them to the Council for an investigation,” Nebenzya said. “We hope that this will make it possible to permanently stop military biological activities that threaten international peace and security, and hold the perpetrators accountable.”
On his part, Russia’s First Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations Dmitry Polyansky said on Friday that Russia has furnished the United Nations Security Council with concrete evidence on US companies and individuals involved in the operation of biolaboratories in Ukraine.
“We are speaking about concrete facts we have discovered, about concrete documents, which indicate that the United States has been carrying out military biological programs in biological laboratories in Ukraine. We have shared several hundreds of documents. They contain concrete data, concrete cases, concrete companies, concrete persons. If you think this evidence is not enough, then what do you think is evidence?” he said at a United Nations Security Council meeting in reply to the remarks by the US ambassador that the documents shared with the UN Security Council by Russia provide no evidence to Moscow’s statements won Washington’s military biological activities in Ukraine.
“We want explanations from you,” Polyansky went on to say. “We have already said which mechanisms we are going to use. We will not drop this topic. Your attempts at turning our concrete claims and questions to you into blathering, into empty talk about Russian propaganda won’t do. You will have to provide concrete explanations of the criminal activities you are engaged in Ukraine”.
