Nebenzya: America and its allies are using terrorists to serve their own interests in Syria

New York (ST) – Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the United Nations, Vasily Nebenzya, affirmed that the United States of America and its allies have always used the terrorists they sponsored exclusively in Syria to serve their own interests.

“Regional interventions of the Westerns, carried out under the pretext of alleged fight against terrorism, continue to play an extremely destabilizing role. This is the slogan that the US and its allies have used to justify their presence in Syria since 2014”, Nebenzya said during the Security Council meeting on political and humanitarian affairs in Syria.

The United States has been leading an illegitimate coalition outside the UN Security Council since August 2014, claiming to fight the terrorist organization ISIS in Syria, while most of this coalition’s raids targeted civilian residents and caused dozens of massacres and the destruction of infrastructure and vital installations in various regions in Syria. In addition to this, the coalition almost completely destroyed the city of Raqqa.
