Nebenzia: We are committed to the unity and sovereignty of Syria

New York (ST): Russia’s permanent representative to the United Nations, Vasily Nebenzia, reiterated his country’s condemnation of the continuous Israeli aggression on Syrian lands, stressing Syria’s unity and sovereignty and the need to end illegal foreign presence on its lands.

Sputnik news agency quoted Nebenzia as saying today during the UN Security Council session, “We condemn the continuous Israeli air strikes on Syrian territory, which undermine stability in Syria and the region,” stressing his country’s adherence to the sovereignty and complete unity of Syria and ending the illegal foreign presence on its lands after the final defeat of terrorists and the establishment of peace and security in the country.

With regard to the situation in Idleb, Nebenzia affirmed that the situation is deteriorating as a result of the presence of terrorists and the aggression of the Turkish regime on Syrian territory, noting that more than 760 terrorist attacks on Syrian army positions have been recorded during the past month alone.

Russia’s permanent representative to the United Nations called for the resumption of the Syrian dialogue without external interference and without imposing artificial deadlines and with a neutral international mediation, pointing out that previous experiences showed that it is a mistake to surround the negotiations with artificial requirements.
