Nebenzia: US veto in Security Council shows Washington’s true attitude towards Palestinian people

Russia’s Permanent Representative to the UN Vasily Nebenzia stressed that the United States showed its true position towards the Palestinians by using its “veto” in the UN Security Council to prevent the state of Palestine from gaining full membership in the UN.

“By using the veto for the fifth time since the beginning of the worsening situation in Gaza, the Americans have once again shown their real attitude towards the Palestinians,” Nebenzia was quoted by the website of Russia today as saying during a security council meeting, adding, “It is a question of whether the Palestinians deserve to be part of the world family and participate in decisions in international life.

“For the United States, Palestine does not deserve to have its own state, it is just an obstacle to the realization of Israeli interests,” the Russian representative continued.

Dmitry Polyansky, the First Deputy Representative of Russia to the UN, said that the United States looked pathetic when explaining why it used a “veto” against the draft resolution on the membership of Palestine, explaining that “one permanent member of the UN Security Council opposes it and uses the veto, confusingly arguing that this is not the right time … It looked pathetic”.

“As for us, we voted with confidence, with a clear conscience and with all our hearts in favor of the draft resolution,” he added.

It is worth mentioning that the United States has used the veto dozens of times to protect “Israel” and give it the green light to continue committing its brutal crimes against the Palestinian people.
