Nebenzia: Some parties are trying to obstruct the Syrian army’s efforts to eliminate terrorism

New York (ST):  Russia’s permanent representative to the United Nations, Vasily Nebenzia, has emphasized that some parties are trying to obstruct the efforts of the Syrian Arab Army and the Russian forces in eliminating the remnant terrorist organizations, stressing that Russia will continue to provide the necessary assistance to Syria in its war on terrorism.

TASS news agency quoted Nebenzia as saying during a session of the UN Security Council yesterday that the Syrian army and the Russian forces were able to significantly reduce the capabilities of terrorists in Syria, but the attempts of some to present some of these organizations as part of the “opposition” complicate the war on terrorism and impede efforts to eliminate  the remnant terrorist organizations.

Nebenzia added: “Thanks to the continuous and tireless efforts of the Syrian and Russian armies, the capabilities of terrorist organizations on Syrian soil, especially ISIS, have been greatly weakened, but some terrorist cells continue their attacks and still pose a serious threat.”

Nebenzia explained that the so-called “Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham”, which is basically the terrorist organization of Al-Nusra Front, is the largest of these groups, noting that according to estimates, this group includes thousands of terrorists.
