Nebenzia renews the call to lift coercive measures imposed on Syria

New York,(ST)-Russia’s permanent representative to the United Nations, Vasily Nebenzia, renewed the call for the lifting off unilateral coercive economic measures imposed on the Syrian people, stressing that they have caused the suffering of the Syrians in their daily lives and also have hindered the fight against the Corona epidemic.

Nebenzia criticized during a video session of the UN Security Council yesterday  the situation in Syria – that the report of the United Nations Secretary-General on cross-border humanitarian aid operations did not address the problems arising from the coercive measures imposed on Syria, and only referred to “economic problems” without talking about the effects of these measures .
Nebenzia stressed that any humanitarian operations in Syria must be carried out in cooperation and coordination with the Syrian government, recalling that Russia has demanded for years that a list of partners in the humanitarian aid operation be known to all including  the Syrian government, but this did not happen, indicating that the terrorists of Al-Nusra Front hinder the arrival of any humanitarian aid to the northwest because they want to take it and steal it.
Russia’s permanent representative to the United Nations called to “stop individual political options that are not related to humanitarian principles,” stressing at the same time the need to return all areas to the authority of the Syrian state to ensure that humanitarian aid reaches those who deserve it.
