Nebenzia criticizes misuse of aid delivery mechanism in Syria by some states

New York, (ST): Russia’s Permanent Representative to the UN Vassily Nebenzia criticized exploiting the UN mechanism for delivering humanitarian aid in Syria by some states in a way that violates Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Novosti News Agency quoted Nebenzia as saying in a statement  that the terrorist organizations stationed in Idleb use the humanitarian aid as a tool to exert pressure on the civilians, noting that they benefit from them, and there is direct and indirect proof that.

He added that in addition to that, some foreign parties exploit the mechanism of the aid delivery in Syria in a way that threatens with isolating a number of areas in the country, pointing out that this contradicts with Syria’ sovereignty and territorial integrity which have been confirmed in several UN Security Council Resolutions.

Earlier, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister, Sergey Vershinin  had called in a statement to journalists, not to  politicize the humanitarian aid file in Syria and to deliver the aid in coordination with the legitimate  Syrian government.

Reference should be made to the fact that, the UN Security Council adopted last Friday a draft resolution on aid delivery to Syria through a single border crossing for a one year.
