Nebenzia calls on the new US administration to support Putin’s proposal to hold a five-year summit of the UN Security Council

On January 25th, Russia’s permanent representative to the United Nations Vasily Nebenzia called on the new US administration to support the idea of holding the ‘five-year summit’ of the UN Security Council proposed by Russian President Vladimir Putin.

“ A new American administration has come and it must respond to this initiative which is still on the table and is important for direct talks,” Nebenzia said in an interview with TASS.

Last June, the Russian president suggested organizing a meeting for the leaders of the permanent members of the UN Security Council (Russia, the United States, China, France and Britain) to discuss ways to protect peace and preserve civilization, while the United Nations announced earlier that it welcomed this initiative.
