National School Debate Championship

A debate is considered one of  literary  activities that take place in schools where competitions are held among students to find out their cultural and linguistic interests. In fact, the debate is a form of public speech, in other words, it is  a rhetorical confrontation between two or more speakers on a specific issue at a specific time.It takes place in a public session in which conflicting arguments are presented on a dialectical subject  that often ends with a vote by the audience or the judgment commission .The basis of debates  depends  on  two opposing teams in the debate are: the first one which is called “the evidence team” . The main task  of this team is to support the debate. On the contrary, the second team which is completely  opposed the subject, it  is  called “ the negation team”.

The subjects of debates vary greatly from one competition to another . But most of these debates treat controversial issues that attract audience attention. Then the followers of the competition can ask questions to inquire about some points.

On the other hand, the debate has rules that control the behavior of the participants during the process of symmetry. And the most unusual in this type of contests is that the participant may offer arguments that contradict his principles. Also, he may be obliged to defend things that he is not convinced by at all.

Recently, Syria  has participated for the first time in the WorldSchool DebatesChampionship. The Syrian team ranked third as the best participating country for the first time in this international debate WSDC.
