National reconciliations indispensable to combat terrorism & enhance national dialogue

Tolerance and reconciliation are the essential headlines for the term national reconciliation which is a part of Syria’s strategy to emerge from the current crisis. National reconciliations that have been achieved are part of the comprehensive process that will lead to victory against terrorism and lay the foundations for a national dialogue that will determine the final image of the future Syria that the Syrians aspire to.

Reconciliation does not mean only stopping military operations in a certain place, or handing over weapons, or settling the legal status of people and returning them to their homes; it means all of these things together.

The failure of reconciliation in a certain area does not mean that reconciliation is not a strategy or a priority for the state or that we must revise it, as reconciliation is a final strategy that is agreed upon and everyone should be convinced that it is an essential part of resolving the crisis.

The continuous fortification of such reconciliations through spreading the culture of tolerance and cohesion and collaborating to bridge gaps is more important than achieving the reconciliations themselves.

Syria, after four years of crisis, is in need for its sons to heal its wounds. National reconciliations are the basic pillar to combat terrorism and enhance the national dialogue. The popular reconciliations boost counter-terrorism and national dialogue. A state of understanding and building bridges of confidence between the national reconciliation committees’ members and competent authorities is essential for achieving reconciliation.

Syrian people should be aware of those who want to make the popular reconciliations a failure, and the Syrians will defeat terrorism through their own efforts.

The principles of the Syrian policy are three: combating terrorism, national reconciliations and national dialogue. The State’s institutions are not alone which are concerned in reconciliations, but all civil societies, educational, religious and culture references.

Maximizing efforts is vital to go ahead with the course of national reconciliation to more effectively face the takfiri mentality and terrorism ravaging the country for almost four years now. The role of dignitaries and civil figures is highly counted on in launching dialogue in neighborhoods and helping in expelling terrorists who are alien to those neighborhoods so as to reduce the residents’ suffering.

The National Reconciliation Committee is working alongside the Ministry of State for National Reconciliation Affairs and the concerned civil, social and religious figures to consolidate the concept of reconciliation and make it clear that the door is wide open for all those willing to get back on the right track.

National reconciliation is the inevitable and most effective way out of the crisis in the country. It is the best means to face the takfiri terrorism and media falsification launched against Syria by some countries.

Local reconciliations have been achieved nationwide at an accelerated pace recently, leading to having security and stability prevailing in many areas. In this context, tens of hundreds of wanted and armed people had their legal status settled after turning themselves in to the authorities.

As expanding the scope of national reconciliation to include all the Syrian areas is greatly important, reconciliation should be based on the interests of the Syrian people and should be made with those who acknowledge the presence of others and their rights and believe in the country’s independence and sovereignty. Reconciliation can neither be made with the takfiris and terrorists who are seeking to destroy Syria and are killing its people, nor with the agents who betrayed the homeland in return for large salaries paid by the petro-dollar states.

The role of the civil society and influential national forces in making the national reconciliation process a success is greatly important.

National reconciliation is one of the strategic principles for building a strong Syrian state and is the Syrians’ choice for a better future.

All the Syrians should play their part fully and actively in the national reconciliation process. This process goes in parallel to the state’s efforts in confronting terrorism and its backers.
