National Earthquake Center: 7 light tremors recorded during the past 24 hours

Damascus (ST): The National Seismological Center announced that its monitoring stations recorded 7 light tremors, ranging in intensity between magnituxe 1.5 and 3 on Richter scale, during the past 24 hours.

The Center stated that the recorded tremors occured as follows: two tremors in Iskenderun, two tremors 12 km southeast of Hama, another one, 48 km southwest of Idlib and two tremors in Turkey.

The intensity of tremors and earthquakes is measured between mangnitude 1 and 10 degrees on Richyer scale. Tremors between magnitude 1 and 4 are light, and they do not cause any damage, and can only be felt, while tremors between magnitude 4 and 6, are medium and can cause damage to buildings.  Tremors between 7 and 10 are major srrong eatthquakes that may destroy an entire city.
