Damascus, (ST) – The National Earthquake Center announced the recording of 13 tremors east of Hama city until 8:00 am today.
The National Earthquake Center said that monitoring stations have recorded 13 tremors east of Hama city until 8:00 am today, the largest of which was 5.3 on the Richter scale, while the aftershocks were weaker.
The center clarified that the main earthquake occurred as a result of the accumulation of energy during the previous period of time within the secondary faults associated with the Dead Sea fault.
The center had previously indicated that as a result of a noticeable change in seismicity within a range extending from the south of Tartous city to Hama, there is a 30 percent possibility of earthquakes with a magnitude between 3 and 5.
